I'm not usually interested in fantasy type books, but the author came into my store and was telling me about this book and I was so intrigued by our conversation that I had to buy it. The Oath is the first book in a trilogy. Lots of action, unrequited romance, and great word pictures. I have already recommended this book to others. The only bad thing that I can say about The Oath is the cliffhanger ending. I want to read the next book now!
The characters are well drawn out and the imagery is fantastic. This book is so richly detailed that it would make a wonderful movie. Every chapter had me begging for more! The storyline is imaginative and original. I enjoyed every page, and I can't wait for Book 2 to become available.
In The Oath Ms. Clark brings messages of Hope and True Love as she weaves the coming of age story of young Adelheide (Adlai) a head strong orphan raised with the Crown Prince whom she loves unrequitedly. The scourge of the Shadow and the Accursed threaten to shroud the land in Darkness as Adlai puts herself into danger only to be rescued by an unlikely savior.The Oath is a literary masterpiece of adventure and fantasy. Full of rich characters and ingenious imagery this book ran like a movie in my head and I couldn’t put it down. It is a MUST read.
I really enjoyed this book. The writing is so vivid and I kept imagining what it would be like as a film.
The Oath is immediately captivating and enjoyable as the reader relates to Adlai's desire to walk the path of right choices but finds the path is not always clearly paved. The story is filled with vivid imagery, mythology and intrigue so the reader is fully engulfed right to the end.

There are few things I take the time to review. But when I do, it's because I believe something has merit that others may not give a chance. I highly recommend this read.I was not initially drawn to the dramatic cover, but I found myself hooked in the first chapters. C.A. Clark's characters are real, complex, engaging, and fascinating. The world the author creates is one in which you see, smell, hear, taste, perspire, and shiver.If you are someone who cares about things that really matter, you will not be disappointed at the depth of its contents. It has had my mind and heart processing for weeks. It has intrigued me, reminded me of what is true, and challenged me be more compassionate.This book is a gem from a yet-to-be-discovered author. I hope the sequel and series comes quickly!
