It can be pretty daunting, overwhelming even, and very confusing out there for a newbie learner of Tarot. There are so many attractive decks you are drawn to that you think you can work with and so many suggestions and recommendations from well meaning sites and people for learning how to read Tarot cards and doing spreads. I've tried several decks but this Morgan Greer Deck, which, BTW, is recommended for the Beginner and Advanced Tarot Reader alike, seems to have the most promise (for me) as far as interpreting the cards. I really like the medieval feel, the beautiful artwork and vibrant colors. May I offer some advice? I recently found a website that really spoke to one of the problems I was encountering with interpreting the cards and it is this: Do not, repeat, do not look at what the card is "supposed to represent" according to the playbook or what someone tells you they should represent. Lay down each individual card and form your own interpretation of what that particular card means to you before you consult the book for the "stock" interpretation. Sleep with your chosen deck under your pillow for a week or more and when you go to first interpret each card, ask for help from Spirit. This is really working for me. There is no really proven way (as each one of us is different) to learn Tarot but the advice I'm offering here on card interpretation, well, you just cannot go wrong.
It is said that you choose your tarot card deck by the special connection you have to it. I was drawn to this particular deck and was not disappointed when I had them in hand.Some reviewers have pointed out how groovy these cards are, and it’s totally true! Each deck is a product of its time, but I love the artwork, colors, and even the star print on the back of the cards.I also appreciate that this deck comes with a title card, another card that provides information about the illustrator, and an instruction pamphlet that contains the order and general meaning of each card as well as a spread suggestion. I found the pamphlet to be especially helpful in the event you need a little refresher before you perform a reading...it’s useful for a beginner too, but I’d definitely recommend having a book resource in addition to the instruction pamphlet because it is simply too general.
Love this deck! These are durable plastic cards and great for shuffling, no rips, no sticking, and easy to clean. The art of these cards really jumps out and starts telling a story straight away without much contemplation. Great for beginners and experts alike and best suited for general reads. My favorite aspect of the cards are how the characters face 4 directions looking left, right, straight, or at each other. It really creates a flow that's easy and entertaining to follow. The included pamphlet and card box could be better, but for the price I'm satisfied.
Although I am very new to the Tarot, I own several Tarot decks. This one is so beautiful to the touch. The colors are absolutely gorgeous. I can even shuffle the deck without having the cards flying all over the place. I am really drawn to how beautiful they are â¤ï¸ðŸŒˆðŸ¦‹
When I ordered this deck from Amazon I was worried that the imagery would be too similar to the R-W tarot deck to really inspire any new interpretations for me. When I opened the deck I had the same fears, the truth is the decks are very similar. After going through the the indecidual cards, however, I would recommend these cards to any collector or reader of tarot cards.The images have a true vibrancy that is hard to match, and the design of numbers and boarders is very inconspicuous and well integrated. Overall an amazing tarot design that is fully realized artistically and conseptually.As a personal touch to all of my tarot reviews I always add if the deck is populated more by one gender or another. This deck has roughly the same gender balance as the original tarot images and doesn't lean more masculine or femanin.
The cards arrived on time and was firmly packaged. It includes 78 cards and instructions. I was immediately drawn to this deck at first glance. The cards have a smooth feel to them, but not too smooth whereas they would be too slippery for handling. The edges of the cards provide a crisp presentation upon spreading. The background images exquisitely allow the characters on the cards to blend into the background. This provides diversity for those men and women of color who would be purchasing the deck. Oftentimes, the characters/people on the Tarot cards take precedence over the background images, making it appear to be geared towards one specific ethnicity. This is not the case with these cards. I would recommend these cards as an addition to your Tarot decks or as a keepsake.
I saw this deck on the TV show Bones, which recently just wrapped up and ended, and I wanted something like a keepsake to the show. I have a few other decks, considering starting a collection. Haven't been able to handle it much since I bought it but it's a really gorgeous deck and I can't wait to learn these cards.
My favorite deck, and a great one to relearn reading after a long time away. The imagery is vibrant and rich, extending all the way to the edges of the cards which creates a feeling of being drawn into the story of each card. Deceptively simple, each image is rich with symbolism without being overwhelming: pulling a card and just mediating on it my "first impression" is just as rewarding as doing an in depth reading on all the possible meanings and interpretations. Physically the cards are large and sturdy. They take some getting used to shuffling, but they feel substantial in the hand. I wished I had learned (the first time) using this deck!
